Dancing with the Stars Premiere: Normani Kordei and Val Chmerkovskiy Kick Off 400th Episode with Energetic Quickstep
By Erica Abbott
Welcome to “Dancing with the Stars” season 24! First to hit the ballroom dance floor are Normani Kordei and partner Val Chmerkovskiy, two-time Mirrorball trophy winner. They are dancing a quickstep to “Good Time Good Life” by Erin Bowman.
Len Goodman says it was long-winded getting started but got a better as the dance went on. Julianne Hough says she definitely set the tone for the evening, while Bruno Tonioli thinks it was “snappy” and energetic with individual style. Carrie Ann Inaba agrees with Len’s comment about the intro but thought it was “fantastic” overall. She suggests, however, letting Val lead her. They score a 27 out of 40.
Tonight, “Dancing with the Stars” celebrates its 400th episode of glitz, glam and dancing. The dances featured on tonight’s two-hour-long premiere episode include the tango, cha cha, salsa, quickstep and Viennese waltz. Couples will have the chance to show America what they’re made of and put their best foot forward on the dance floor as they compete for the glittering Mirrorball trophy. The first couple will be eliminated next week.

According to ABC, Kordei “is one-fourth of one of the most popular girl groups in the world, Fifth Harmony. The release of Fifth Harmony’s sophomore album, “7/27,” is the latest in a series of record-breaking accomplishments for the group. “Work from Home,” the album’s 3x-platinum certified first single, earned Fifth Harmony their first top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, notching the top spot on both the Billboard Rhythmic and Pop Songs charts.”
