Donald Trump Jr. Gets Social Media Backlash For Criticism Of London Mayor Following Terror Attack
By Shawn Rice
Donald Trump Jr. faces an outraged backlash from Britons and those on social media after he criticized London Mayor Sadiq Khan following an attack on the city. President Donald Trump’s eldest son, tweeted a link to a story from 2016 in The Independent in which Khan said that the threat of terror attacks was “part and parcel of living in a big city.”
Trump Jr. said: “You have to be kidding me?!: Terror attacks are part of living in big city, says London Mayor Sadiq Khan.” His tweet followed news of an attack on parliament that left 29 people needing hospital treatment and four dead, including the attacker, who was shot by police after entering the parliamentary estate with a knife.

The story Trump Jr. tweeted was not Khan’s response to the incident. Rather, in a statement after the attack, Khan said: “London is the greatest city in the world, and we stand together in the face of those who seek to harm us and our way of life. Trump Jr. angered many Britons who accused him of exploiting the tragedy and implying the quotes were made after the attack.
Here are some reactions on social media to Trump Jr.’s comments.
@DonaldJTrumpJr You use a terrorist attack on our city to attack London’s Mayor for your own political gain. You’re a disgrace.

Khan has since gone on to state that he has more important things to do than respond to a tweet from Trump Jr. “I’m not going to respond to a tweet from Donald Trump Jr.,” Khan said on CNN. “I’ve been doing far more important things over the last 24 hours.”
