Ivanka Trump Becomes Special Assistant To Donald Trump And Social Media Argues Nepotism
By Shawn Rice
Ivanka Trump has now taken an official but unpaid role in the White House serving as a special assistant to President Donald Trump. The president’s daughter moved from her informal advisory role. Though some on social media are now arguing nepotism on the part of the Trump administration. Ivanka Trump already has an office in the West Wing. Her previous informal adviser role was criticized for the possible avoiding of some rules and disclosures.
“I have heard the concerns some have with my advising the president in my personal capacity while voluntarily complying with all ethics rules, and I will instead serve as an unpaid employee in the White House office, subject to all of the same rules as other federal employees,” she said in a statement. “Throughout this process I have been working closely and in good faith with the White House counsel and my personal counsel to address the unprecedented nature of my role.”
The official title makes her existing role more formalized, though she has been no stranger to the White House. Ivanka Trump’s title will be assistant to the president. Her husband, Jared Kushner, has the title of senior adviser, according to The New York Times.
“We are pleased that Ivanka Trump has chosen to take this step in her unprecedented role as first daughter and in support of the president,” a spokeswoman for the president said. “Ivanka’s service as an unpaid employee furthers our commitment to ethics, transparency, and compliance and affords her increased opportunities to lead initiatives driving real policy benefits for the American public that would not have been available to her previously.”
Here are some reactions on social media to Ivanka taking on a new role in the White House. What do you think of the new role for the president’s daughter? Let us know in the comments section.
Ivanka Trump will now become an official federal employee. This is both illegal nepotism and a conflict of interest with her brand!

@IvankaTrump You and your husband have no business working in OUR WHITE HOUSE. Hopefully you’ll be gone soon, and will get your comeuppance.
