First Lady Michelle Obama thanks U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) employees for their service and dedication at the Jefferson Auditorium, USDA on Friday, May 3, 2013. The First Lady reminded federal workers of the importance of the work they do to support American farmers and ranchers, protecting the environment, lifting up rural communities, and keeping food safe, and working to end hunger. Michelle Obama filing for a divorce from Barack Obama as a result of the former president impregnating his mistress is fake news. There is no truth that the former First Lady filed for divorce after discovering Barack Obama had a pregnant mistress.

Rather, this story originated from a hoax news site which used an old British tabloid photograph to support its outrageous claim. On April 18, 2017, The Last Line of Defense reported that Michelle Obama filed for divorce after discovering that her husband and former president of the United States has a pregnant mistress.

Of course, lately, the two have been seen in various photographs enjoying vacation after his two presidential terms. You can read text from that fake story below.

“According to her lawyer, Alan Dershowitz, Michelle Obama has filed for divorce on the grounds of infidelity. Shortly after reports came out of her husband’s affair, Mrs. Obama took Sasha and left DC to go stay in the family mansion in Chicago. When she saw the picture of the woman who was about to ruin her marriage and bring her husband’s third child into the world, she immediately called for backup.

Dershowitz is an old friend of Michelle’s from Harvard. This is the picture that has her in an uproar.”

However, there is no truth to the above story. For instance, the British woman depicted is married to an electrician named Steven. The photograph was published in a UK tabloid in June 2012, in an article about women and their experience with post-pregnancy changes to their bodies, according to Snopes. There was absolutely no connection between the years-old article and Barack Obama’s alleged pregnant mistress.

Here are some examples of people sharing the fake news on social media.
