Nordstrom’s $425 Fake Mud-Covered Jeans Confuse the Internet
By Erica Abbott
Fashion trends may come and go but viral, weird fashion statements will be around forever. First, there were Topshop’s “Clear Knee Mom Jeans” that feature two plastic panels, then came the Clear Plastic Jeans that are completely see-through. Now, Nordstrom’s Barracuda Straight Leg Jeans, which include fake mud designs, are here to baffle the internet even more.
The $425 jeans are meant to “embody rugged, Americana workwear that’s seen some hard-working action with a crackled, caked-on muddy coating that shows you’re not afraid to get down and dirty,” according to the product description. It wasn’t PRPS’ only strange design either—other jeans featured “wearable abstract art,” jeans coated in fake paint and even “baked-in whiskers.” Nordstrom also sold another questionable item that went viral last year: an $85 leather-wrapped stone that later sold out.
Customer reviews (or trolling) of the fake mud-covered jeans were also winners on the internet. “Gotta love being able to look like I have fed the pigs, helped deliver a calf, and get the tractor unstuck without ever having to leave my BMW,” one reviewer wrote. “Love it.” Another questioned whether the jeans were designed in an effort to “poke fun at working class folks.”
If $425 fake mud-covered jeans just aren’t your style, you may want to consider rolling around in actual mud using your own jeans if you’re going for that authentic feel.

These still aren’t quite as bad as the clear knee mom jeans but they’re bad. Pre-mud stained jeans for $425! https://t.co/1sYjrknCoc

I could picture some politicians buying these for their “Just like you” photo ops during a campaign.
Otherwise, who would ever buy these? https://t.co/LWV8FTw9K2
