The Toy Box: Quadball Meets Kid Judges But Falls to Candy Krusher
By Erica Abbott
Quadball is “a skill and action game with a nostalgic feel,” according to ABC.
The mentors find the concept very cool and think it’s both fun and competitive to play. Dylan Lauren worries, however, that hands can potentially get a bit caught in one of the panels. She likes the nostalgic feel, as does Jen Tan. Tan recommends adding graphics to “spice it up” a little. They all like Quadball and agree to pass it to the Toy Box.
In the Toy Box, the kid judges have fun trying it out and Toby Grey calls it “super fun.” Aalyrah Caldwell says it’s easy “once you get the hang of it.” Sophia Grace Brownlee adds that it’s easy to play but “hard to master.” Ultimately, it does not make it to the finals round.
Hosted by “Modern Family” star Eric Stonestreet, “The Toy Box” helps inventors make their toy creation dreams become a reality. According to their website, the inventions are brought before mentors, including Dylan’s Candy Bar owner Dylan Lauren, toy guru Jim Silver and Pixar creative director of Consumer Products, Jen Tan. If they pass phase one, they then have the opportunity to face the ultimate toy-loving panel of judges: kids. The panel features Sophia Grace Brownlee, Aalyrah Caldwell, Toby Grey and Noah Ritter. The kids determine which toys make it to the finals and, ultimately, the one winning toy that will sold at Toys“R”Us.
A new episode airs each Friday at 8 p.m. on ABC.
